Nitshill Free Church was founded in 1844. Church building began in 1850 but was abandoned shortly afterwards. Services were resumed in 1869, however, and a church erected in 1877. The charge was sanctioned two years later. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, and united with Levern in 1940 as Levern and Nitshill. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Paisley and the synod of Clydesdale. |
