Crosshill South Church, Ayrshire, originated at the Disruption. At first Crosshill and Dalrymple were united, but Crosshill was disjoined, and a separate church built, in 1848. The charge was sanctioned in 1856. The congregation transferred successively to the United Free Church in 1900 and to the Church of Scotland (as Crosshill South) in 1929. In 1931 it united with Crosshill Fergusson Memorial as Crosshill. The church then became the church hall, but the manse was retained. The former parish church became the place of worship. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery and synod of Ayr, until the abolition of synods in 1993. Crosshill is now linked with Dalrymple. |
