Appin United Free Church originated some time after the Disruption. Originally Lismore and Appin had been placed under the Free Church ministers of Ardchattan and Oban, and had only become a separate charge in 1859. By the time of the union of 1900, Lismore had already been separated to join a United Presbyterian congregation on the island, and Duror had been attached to South Ballachulish. The United Free charge was reunited with Lismore in 1919, but the union was dissolved in 1924. Its Church of Scotland successor, Appin St Moluag's, reunited with Appin in 1933. It was in the presbytery of Lorn and the synod of Argyll. |
