Lochbroom Free Church was established in the 1850s. The minister of Lochbroom had adhered to the Free Church at the Disruption, but had died soon afterwards. A church and manse were built in Ullapool and only later in Lochbroom. In 1893 a number of members seceded to join the Free Presbyterians. The remaining congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, and united with Ullapool as Lochbroom and Ullapool in 1956. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Chanonry and Dingwall and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
