Knockbain, Munlochy Free Church was formed at the Disruption when the minister and congregation of Knockbain adhered to the Free Church. Since a site could not be found in the parish, a church and manse were built in the neighbouring parish of Killearnan. The congregation split over the building of a new church and manse at Munlochy in the 1880s. The part remaining with the original church became Knockbain West. It passed successively to the United Free Church (as Knockbain) and to the Church of Scotland (as Knockbain North). Knockbain North and Knockbain South united as Knockbain in 1934. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Chanonry and Dingwall and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
