Auchencairn Free Church was formed at the Disruption, with a church built in the village in the following year. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Auchencairn St John's, which united with Auchencairn St Oswald's as Auchencairn in 1932. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Kirkcudbright and the synod of Dumfries. |
