Alvie and Rothiemurchus Free Church was formed as Alvie Free Church in 1843,and later joined by a group from Rothiemurchus. A church was built at Milehead, Alvie, in 1851 and a separate meeting house later for Rothiemurchus. The congregation passed to the United Free Church in 1900, but in 1902 Rothiemurchus was detached to form a new congregation of Rothiemurchus and Aviemore. The property and most of the endowments went to the Free Church, so that a new church had to be built at Kincraig. This passed to the Church of Scotland as Alvie, which united with Insh and Kincraig as Alvie and Insh in 1932. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Abernethy and the synod of Moray. |
