Wick Free Church originated at the Disruption, when the minister and a large part of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A site for a church at Westerdale Bridge was soon obtained and the charge was sanctioned in 1843. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Wick West. Wick West united with Wick Central as Wick Central in 1950. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Caithness and the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
