Montrose, St George's Free Church was formed by members of the Old Church in Montrose, who built a church in 1844 (replaced 1859). It passed to the United Free Church in 1900 and in 1923 united with Montrose Trinity as Montrose St George's and Trinity. This passed to the Church of Scotland in 1929. In 1977 Montrose St Andrew's was formed by the union of Montrose St Luke's and St John's and Montrose St George's and Trinity. As a Church of Scotland charge Montrose St George's and Trinity was in the presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun and the synod of Angus and Mearns. |
