Montrose St John's Free Church was formed at the Disruption by the minister and many of the congregation, who were able to retain the church building. It passed to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, as Montrose St John's, which united with Montose St Luke's as Montrose St Luke's and St John's in 1953. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun and the synod of Angus and Mearns. |
