Partick East Church, Glasgow, began with United Presbyterian mission work in the 1860s. For decades it met in temporary premises, including the former Dowanhill Church at Byres Road and Dumbarton Road, and only moved into its own church in Lawrence Street in 1899. It was known as Partick East United Presbyterian (later United Free) Church and transferred to the Church of Scotland in 1929. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
