Hawick, West Port Free Church arose from mission work taken over by Hawick Free Church in 1857. A meeting station was established in 1863, the charge was sanctioned in 1869 and a church was built in 1876. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, and in 1959 united with Hawick St George's as Hawick St George's West. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Hawick and the synod of Merse and Teviotdale. |
