Ellon Free Church was formed at the Disruption and took possession of an Independent church. The charge was sanctioned in 1845. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Ellon South, which united with Ellon North as Ellon United Free in 1905, and to the Church of Scotland, as Ellon St Andrew's. The latter united with Ellon St Mary's as Ellon in 1947. Ellon and Slains was formed in 1973 by the union of Slains and Forvie with Ellon. The Church of Scotland charges were in the presbytery and synod of Aberdeen. |
