Ellon (Auchmacoy) United Associate Congregation (Antiburgher) began with an Antiburgher congregation at Craigdam and Clola, some of whose members from the Ellon area petitioned for disjunction around 1790. The place chosen was Auchmacoy in Logie-Buchan, where a church was apparently built in 1790 or 1791 (replaced by a new one in Ellon, 1827). The first minister was ordained in 1795. The congregation passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Ellon North, which united with Ellon South aas Ellon in 1905. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Deer and the synod of Aberdeen. |
