Arbroath, Knox's Free Church was planted to meet the needs of a district in the northern part of the town. A church was erected and the charge sanctioned in 1866, and a minister was settled in the following year. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Angus (formerly Arbroath and was in the synod of Angus and Mearns until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
