The congregation of Edinburgh St David's Free Church was established in 1843, at the time of the Disruption, when the minister and most of the congregation of St David's Parish Church adhered to the Free Church. The church of St David's Free was erected in 1844 in Morrison Street and was later rebuilt in 1859. In 1900, at the time of the union of the Free Church and the United Presbyterians, St David's Free Church became St David's United Free and following the 1929 union between the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, St David's United Free was renamed Edinburgh St David's Morrison Street, Church of Scotland. The charge was suppressed in 1948 but was restored to full status 6 years later in 1954 and in 1961 St David's Morrison Street was united with the session of Broomhouse, under the name of St David's Broomhouse. |
