New Machar United Free Church originated at the Disruption, when the minister and many of the congregation adhered to the Free Church and erected a church in the village of Summerhill. In 1845 the charge was transferred from the presbytery of Aberdeen to that of Ellon. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Newmachar West, which united with Newmachar East as Newmachar in 1932. The United Free charge was in the presbytery and synod of Aberdeen. |
