Lochranza Free Church began with a congregation formed in 1844 to cover a wider area at the north end of Arran, with a church at Lenimore Point, 4 miles from Lochranza. During a vacancy from 1885 until 1888 the members in Lochranza itself petitioned for disjunction, which was sanctioned in 1886. They now became Lochranza Free Church and the parent congregation continued as Lenimore and Pirnmill. After passing to the United Free Church the two reunited as Lochranza and Pirnmill. This then passed to the Church of Scotland as Lochranza East and Pirnmill, which united with Lochranza St Bride's as Lochranza and Pirnmill in 1930. The United Free charge was in the presbytery of Kintyre and the synod of Argyll. |
