Grantown (on Spey) Free Church was formed in the autumn of 1845 and sanctioned as a charge in 1845. The church and manse followed in 1849 (church enlarged, 1898). It was initially known as Cromdale, until the establishment of a separate charge there in 1893. After it passed to the United Free Church as Grantown, the property was claimed by the Free Church, but allocated to the United Free in 1906. The Church of Scotland charge, Grantown South, was in the presbytery of Abernethy and the synod of Moray. It united with Inverallan as Grantown on Spey in 1960. |
