Irvine Free Church was recognised as a preaching station in 1847 and sanctioned as a separate charge in 1849. A church was built at about the same time. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Irvine Mure, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock and was in the synod of Ayr until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
