Fraserburgh Free Church was formed at the Disruption and a church seems to have been built soon afterwards. A dispute over the election of a minister led to the formation of a separate Fraserburgh West Free Church in 1891. The congregation passed successively to the United Free Church, as Fraserburgh South, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Buchan (formerly Deer) and was in the synod of Aberdeen until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
