New Pitsligo Free Church was formed at the Disruption. A church was erected in 1847 and the charge sanctioned in 1860. After the death of a minister in 1897 a local union took place with the United Presbyterian congregation of Whitehill in the following year, and a United Presbyterian probationer became minister of the combined charge. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as New Pitsligo South, which united with New Pitsligo North as New Pitsligo in 1934. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Deer and the synod of Aberdeen. |
