West Kilbride United Secession Church began with a petition for sermon to the United Presbytery of Kilmarnock in 1821, from a local group drawn partly drawn from an existing Relief congregation in Saltcoats. A minister was ordained in 1828. Their first church was replaced in 1883. The congregation passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as West Kilbride Overton, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Ardrossan and was in the synod of Ayr until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
