Cumbrae Free Church began at the Disruption, when the minister and many of the congregation adhered to the Free Church. A new church was built immediately (replaced 1875). It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Millport East, and to the Church of Scotland. In 1971 Millport East and West united as Cumbrae. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Ardrossan and the synod of Ayr. |
