Gourock Free Church began at the Disruption when the minister of the quoad sacra church and part of his congregation adhered to the Free Church. A church building was erected in the following year. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Gourock St John's, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge is in the presbytery of Paisley and Greenock (formerly Greenock) and was in the synod of Clydesdale until the abolition of synods in 1993. |
