Darvel United Presbyterian Church began in 1884 with a petition to Kilmarnock Presbytery from Darvel members of the Newmilns United Presbyterian congregation. The first minister was ordained in the same year and a church opened in 1885. It passed successively to the United Free Church, as Darvel Irvine Bank, and to the Church of Scotland, and united with Darvel Easton Memorial as Darvel Irivine and Easton Memorial in 1956. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock and the synod of Ayr. |
