Edinburgh, Mayfield Free Church began in 1875 with services in a hall in Minto Street for residents of what was then a growing suburb. The charge was sanctioned in 1876 and a church built in 1879. It passed successively to the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland, in the latter case as Edinburgh Mayfield North. This united with Edinburgh Fountainhall Road in 1958 as Edinburgh Mayfield and Fountainhall (name changed to Mayfield, 1968). The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Edinburgh and the synod of Lothian and Tweeddale. |
