In 1877 the Church Planting Board erected a temporary wooden church for the congregation of Mount Florida United Presbyterian Church and the first minister, Rev Henry Drysdale was ordained there in 1878. Eventually the building of a new and permanent church got underway and on the 29th April 1888 the new church was opened for worship. The charge passed successively to the United Free Church in 1900 and the Church of Scotland in 1929. As a Church of Scotland charge it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and the synod of Clydesdale. |
