Strathpeffer and Fodderty Free Church was preceded by Contin and Fodderty, which dated from the Disruption, before the growth of Strathpeffer as a summer resort. This later led to the construction of a mission hall there and in 1887 a church. In 1889 Fodderty was disjoined and transferred to Strathpeffer, which was then sanctioned as a Gaelic and English charge. A minister was settled in 1896. The new congregation passed to the United Free Church, but church and manse were allocated to the Free Church and replacements were built and opened in 1908. At the union of 1929 it became Strathpeffer, which united with Fodderty in 1947 as Fodderty and Strathpeffer. The Church of Scotland charge was in the presbytery of Chanonry and Dingwall and in the synod of Ross, Sutherland and Caithness. |
