Bonhill Relief Church began in 1831 with a petition to the Relief Presbytery of Paisley. The petitioners already had a church built and were able to see a minister settled in 1833. The congregation passed successively to the United Presbyterian and United Free Churches, in the latter case as Bonhill North, and to the Church of Scotland. The Church of Scotland charge, which was in the presbytery of Dumbarton and the synod of Clydesdale, linked with Alexandria Old in 1958 and united with it in 1975 as Alexandria St Andrew's. |
