Proposed to be erected in 1581 by the General Assembly, the Register begins 7 May 1652. The Presbytery of Dunbar seems to have been united with the Presbytery of Haddington in 1929; and from 1 January 1976 the Presbyery of Haddington and Dunbar was united with the Presbytery of Dalkeith to form Lothian Presbytery.
