The lands which were to constitute the parish of Glenlivet formerly sat within the parish of Inveraven, and in the year 1712 the General Assembly granted an allowance for an assistant minister in Inveraven, who was to carry out work within the district of Glenlivet. A chapel was later erected in 1736 to serve Glenlivet, which was rebuilt in 1825, the same year in which a manse and church offices were erected. The parish of Glenlivet was disjoined from Inveraven soon after in 1865 and erected as a parish, quoad sacra. In 1932 Glenlivet joined with the former United Free Church congregation of Craggan, after the union the charge continued under the name of Glenlivet and Craggan and the Craggan church was demolished in 1933. In 1953 a further union followed that reunited the parishes of Glenlivet and Inveraven, to form the session of Inveraven and Glenlivet. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Aberlour and later of Abernethy. |
