Prior to the reformation, although on what exact date is unknown, the parishes of Cromdale, lnverallan and Advie were united together and a new parish church for the united session was erected in 1809. The three parishes remained together until the late 19th century when, first Inverallan was disjoined and erected quoad sacra in 1869, and a then number of years later in 1888 the district of Advie was also disjoined and erected as a separate parish. In 1874 a church had been built at Advie and in 1835 a parliamentary church erected at Granton-on-Spey, near Inverallan. In 1952 Cromdale and Advie came together once more when they established a link, this arrangement was later terminated in 1972 in favour of a union between the two charges under the name of Cromdale and Advie. A further link was also established with Abernethy in 1972. The Kirk session of Cromdale, Inverallan and Advie sat within the Presbytery of Abernethy. |
