The medieval church was dedicated to St Patrick and was appropriated to the Abbey of Kilwinning. Ministry began in 1564 in the person of John Porterfield, minister. Throughout its existence the session was within the jurisdiction of Dumbarton Presbytery. On 26 June 1972, Dumbarton Riverside was formed by the union of Dumbarton High and Dumbarton North and Dumbarton Old. On 18 November 1984 Dumbarton Knoxland united with the session. |
