The Kirk Session of Glenorchy and Inishail was established when the two ancient parishes were united together in 1618. Until 1668 the united parish formed part of the Presbytery of Inveraray, however in that year it was transferred to join the Presbytery of Cowal, (which later became Dunoon) and in 1729 Glenorchy and Inishail was annexed once more, and moved on this occasion to sit within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Lorn. In 1931 Glenorchy and Inishail formed a union with the former United Free Church congregation of Glenorchy South, after the union the former south church was sold and the parish church later underwent renovation work. The kirk session became part of the Presbytery of Lorn and Mull in 1963 when the two courts were united together by Act of Assembly and a link was later established in 1980 with Strathfillan. |
