The Parish Church of Glenelg was dedicated to St Cuimen and there existed within the bounds of the parish mission chapels at Arnisdale and Lochhournhead. In 1931 Glenelg united with the former United Free Church congregation of Glenelg East and following the union the former East church was converted for use as the church hall. Glenelg later established a link in 1968 with Glenshiel and in 1972 a further link followed with Kintail. The three linked charges went on to united in 1987 under the name of Glenelg and Kintail. The Kirk Session sat wthin the Presbytery of Lorn until 1724, when the presbytery of Gairloch, later called Lochcarron, was erected and Glenelg was transferred to within the jurisdiction of this court. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Lochcarron-Skye. |
