The Chapel of Duntocher was first opened for worship on the 25th September 1836, the General Assembly having granted a constitution for a chapel and district of Duntocher earlier in that same year. The parish of Duntocher was later disjoined from Old Kilpatrick on the 11th December 1882. In 1941 during WWII, Duntocher Parish (later known as Duntocher Trinity) Church and halls were entirely destroyed as a result of enemy action and as a consequence the congregation temporarily joined with the United Free Church congregation of Duntocher West. Temporary premises were later opened in 1948 and a new parish church and halls opened in 1952. Duntocher West Kirk Session which sits in the Presbytery of Dumbarton, later formed a link with Dalmuir Ross Memorial and in 1976 the congregation seceded from the United Free Church. |
