The parish church of Dunnet was dedicated to St Faelchu and it was formerly a prebend of the Cathedral of Dornoch. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1569, in the person of John Prouthock. In 1937, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, the parish church of Dunnet united with the former United Free Church congregation of Barrock. After the union the united charge continued under the name of Dunnet and both churches remained in use. In 1970 a link was established with Olrig. The kirk session sits within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Caithness. |
