A church was first opened in the district of Paisley South on the 29th April 1836 and on the 30th May of that year the General Assembly granted a chapel constitution to the district. A number of years later on the 18th February 1878, the parish was disjoined from the Laigh Kirk and the Abbey Parishes of Paisley by the Court of Teinds. In 1972 a union was established between Paisley South and the congregation of Paisley Oakshaw West under the name of Paisley St Luke's. The kirk session has sat within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Paisley throughout its existence. |
