The vicarage of Inchinnan belonged of old to the Knights of Templars, until their suppression in the early part of the 14th century when all their properties were transferred to the Knights Hospitallers of St John. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567, in the person of William Jackson, reader. The old parish church of Inchinnan, which was dedicated to St Conal, was pulled down in 1828 to make way for a new building, which in turn was replaced in 1904 when the present day church was erected. In 1938, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Inchinnan Parish church formed a union with the former United Free Church congregation of Inchinnan Park. After the local union both churches remained in use and the charge continued under the name of Inchinnan. The kirk session sits within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Paisley. |
