The parish church of Killearnan, which was partly rebuilt during the 1690's is thought to have had a dedication to St Iurnan and the parish of Killearnan formerly existed as a prebend of the Cathedral of Fortrose. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of Donald Fraser. In 1933, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Killearnan united with the former United Free Church congregation of Redcastle. After the union the session continued under the name of Killearnan. In 1999, a link was established between Killearnan and Knockbain. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Chanonry, later of Chanonry and Dingwall and, following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1946, it became part of the Presbytery of Ross. |
