Prior to 1776, when it was erected as a separate charge, the parish of Applecross formed part of Lochcarron parish. In 1891 Applecross had it's boundaries readjusted by the Boundaries Commissioners, with lands to the east of the river Kishorn and to the south of the north march of Kishorn being transferred back to within the jurisdiction of Lochcarron Kirk Session. The old church of Applecross, which held a dedication to St Malrubh, was rebuilt in 1817. In 1998 Applecross formed a union with Lochcarron and Shieldaig with Torridon and Kinlochewe under the name of Applecross, Lochcarron and Torridon. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Lochcarron until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Lochcarron-Skye. |
