The church of Alyth, which was rebuilt in 1839, existed prior to the reformation as a prebend of Dunkeld and it held a dedication to St Luag. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567, in the person of Laurence Duncan, reader. In 1976, the parish church of Alyth (also known as Alyth High) united with the former United Free Church congregation of Alyth Barony, under the name of Alyth. The kirk session sat within the presbytery of Meigle, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
