The Kirk Session of Aberdeen Union Terrace, or Bon-Accord Chapel, first originated in 1822 when a chapel was erected in Union Terrace for the purpose of mission work within the parish of St Machar's. At the time of the disruption in 1843 the minister and the entire congregation of Union Terrace adhered to the Free church and as a result the chapel itself was taken possession of by the Free Church. The building, which underwent renovation and reconstruction work after 1943, was later sold to the school board and a new church was erected in 1896. In 1911 Aberdeen Bon-Accord united with the United Free Church congregation of Aberdeen Union and in 1962 a further union was established with Aberdeen St Paul's under the name of Aberdeen Bon-Accord St Paul's. The Kirk Session of Denburn was later established in 1976 when Bon-Accord St Paul's further united with Gilcomston St Colm's. |
