The church of Old Kilpatrick, also known as Wester Kilpatrick and which was rebuilt in 1812, was dedicated to St Patrick and the vicarage of Kilpatrick formerly belonged to the Abbey of Paisley. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1560 in the person of John Berry. During WWII the Old Kilpatrick Church was heavily war damaged and after undergoing restoration work was reopened in 1949. The kirk session of Old Kilpatrick Bowling was formed some years later following the union of Old Kilpatrick and Bowling. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Dumbarton. |
