Rothesay New Parish Church was originally built in 1798 to serve as a Chapel of Ease for the Parish of Rothesay and in 1871 the New Parish was disjoined from Rothesay and erected as a separate charge. New Rothesay was united in 1942 with the former United Free congregation of Rothesay Bridgend to form the session of Rothesay St John's. In 1973 Rothesay The High Kirk further united with St John's, under the name of Rothesay The High Kirk, and a link was established later in the same year with Kingarth and Kilchattan Bay. The Kirk Session sits within the Presbytery of Dunoon. |
