In 1581 the General Assembly proposed to errect a Presbytery at Crimond, Buchan, but the Register does not begin until 30 December 1602. In 1621 the seat of the Presbytery moved from Crimond to Deer. The parishes under its control were: Aberdour, Ardallie, Blackhill, Boddam, Old Deer, New Deer or Auchreddy, Fraserburgh or Philorth, West Fraserburgh, Inverallochy, Kininmonth, Longside or Wester Ugie, Lonmay, Maud, Peterhead or Peterugie, East Peterhead, Pitsligo, New Pitsligo, Rathen, St Fergus or Inverugie or Longley, Savoch, Strichen and Tyrie. On the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, the Presbytery was united with the Presbytery of Turriff to form the Presbytery of Buchan.
