The parish church of Friockheim was originally opened as an extension church in 1825 and the parish itself was later disjoined from Kirkden and erected quoad sacra in 1870. In 1967 Friockheim united with the session of Kinnell, under the name of Friockheim Kinnell and the united charge formed a link in 1983 with Inverkeilor and Lunan. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Arbroath until 1953 when it was transferred to the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun, and later to the Presbytery of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
