Prior to the reformation the church of Kilfinan belonged to the Abbey of Paisley and in addition to the parish church there also existed within the bounds of the parish a Chapel at Kilbride by the name of St Brides, which was later replaced by a mission chapel. The Kirk Session later formed a union with Kilbride under the name of Kilfinan and Kilbride however this union was later dissolved in 1956 and in the same year Kilfinan established a link with Tighnabruaich. Further links followed in 1979 with Kames and Kilbride but in 1983 this link was severed along with the linkage with Tighnabruaich in favour of a link on the same date with Kyles. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Dunoon. |
