An act of Parliament, 24 June 1609, united Meikle Dalton, Little Dalton and Mouswald parishes. On 18 June 1633, Parliament disjoined the kirk of Meikle and Little Dalton from Mouswald and ordained that Meikle and Little Dalton were a single parish. Ministry began in 1563 in the person of John Livingston, reader. From at least 1976 the session was within the jurisdiction of Annandale and Eskdale Presbytery, before which time it was within the jurisdiction of Annandale Presbytery from at least 1955. Prior to that period the session was within the jurisdiction of Lochmaben Presbytery. On 13 November 1957 the session linked with Hightae and was further linked on 1 July 1976 with St Mungo. |
